About your visit to the Sleep Centre

This page explains what to expect before, during and after your visit to the Sleep Centre.

Before your visit

First you will receive an invitation from us. This contains the date and time of your initial consultation with one of our sleep specialists. You are given a registration code to log in to the MijnSEIN patient portal. This digital patient portal works via your computer, tablet and/or mobile phone.

In the digital MijnSEIN patient portal you will find several questionnaires with general questions about you and your problems. We also ask you to keep a paper diary, in which you log your sleep cycle for two weeks. This shows us what your sleeping habits are.

During your visit

For your first visit, you will need to bring a few things with you: your insurance card, proof of identity and a medication list, which you can obtain from your pharmacy or GP. If you have recently had a blood test, you should also take the result of this with you. All these things will help us during the consultation.

We will allocate ample time for your initial consultation with the sleep specialist. You can tell us all about your symptoms and experiences in the consultation. Incidentally, you don’t have to do this on your own. If you would like to bring somebody with you to the discussion, that is not a problem at all. You can simply let us know. Because of COVID-19 it is important that we know this in advance, then we can find a suitable place for the discussion.

At the end of your visit

At the end of the consultation, our sleep specialist will tell you what we can do for you and which tests are appropriate for your situation. Then we will jointly schedule a follow-up appointment. Don’t forget to bring your diary!
