SEIN is actief op de volgende 3 aandachtsgebieden:

Binnen deze drie aandachtsgebieden lopen momenteel de volgende onderzoeken:

1. Dynamiek van neuronale netwerken:

• Anti-inflammatory strategies in experimental epilepsy (valt ook onder Farmocologie).
• Deregulated glia-neuron interaction in medically intractable focal epilepsy: focus on glia as a source of proinflammatory molecules.
• Sudden cardiac arrthythmic arrest in epilepsy: a potential contributor to SUDEP?
• Localization of epileptogenic lesions using techniques of brain perturbation.
• Biological evaluation of new radiotracers for predicting P-gp related BB transport (valt ook onder Farmocologie).
• Epilepsy and the influence of stress: the role of DCLK.

2. Genetica:

• Genetics and Epilepsy (GenE) Establishing Database.

3. Farmocologie:

• Anti-inflammatory strategies in experimental epilepsy (valt ook onder Dynamiek van neoronale netwerken).
• Prevalence of sleep disorders in epilepsy patients and effects of treatment on these disorders on epilepsy.
• Biological evaluation of new radiotracers for predicting P-gp related BB transport (valt ook onder Dynamiek van neuronale netwerken).
• Cyclic hormonal influences in epilepsy and on antiepileptic drug metabolism.

• Child and family adjustment in epilepsy.
• Computational models of epileptic transitions and application to diagnostic and treatment
• Development of a Multimodal Seizure Detection Instrument to improve out-of-hospital safety and disease management of Epilepsy patients. Work Package 1 (WP1) Remote sensing modalities.
